Brittney

Brittney has been a preschool teacher for over 8 years. Her passion for early childhood education began many years ago as she comes from a family of educators. Each year, she works hard to further enhance her credentials by attending workshops and collaborating with early childhood experts. In addition to teaching, Brittney was fortunate enough to host training sessions on play-based learning, parent communication, engagement in play with children, anti-bias, and inclusion. Outside of the traditional classroom, Brittney runs her own summer camp, Beagle Scouts, in the Pacific Palisades. She takes pleasure in creating an enjoyable outdoor experience for her campers through thoughtfully curated curriculum and themes while enjoying the wonders of nature.

What languages do you speak?

I speak English, Spanish, and am currently learning Japanese!

Why do you teach?

I teach because I am a huge child advocate and I am truly passionate about bringing young children’s ideas to life. I strive to make my students feel heard, seen, and valued.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?

If I could have any superpower I would probably have teleportation powers. I would love to be able to see many places instantly!

What three words would your students use to describe you?

The three words my students use to describe me are nice, silly, and as my preschoolers have said time and time again, “vewy smart” because they can’t pronounce their R’s yet.

What is your favorite book?

My favorite book to read in the classroom has to be, Today, I will Fly! by Mo Willems. You can never go wrong with a good Piggie and Elephant book. My favorite personal book: The Book of Lost Things by`John Connolly.

What is your favorite place to visit in Los Angeles?

My favorite place to visit in Los Angeles is probably Temescal Canyon, but I think I’m just biased because I enjoy spending summers there, climbing all the trees, hiking to the waterfall and it’s a gorgeous space in nature. Plenty of amazing critters!

Any secret talents?

I can whistle any song I know!
